The band director at Central Crossing High School in Grove City was arrested Thursday and faces felony charges related to having nude pictures of a student on his phone.

Keith Hallas, 40, of Grandview Heights, was charged with pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, a fourth-degree felony, according to a criminal complaint filed in Franklin County Municipal Court.

He was placed on administrative leave Thursday as soon as the district learned of the charges, according to Sandy Nekoloff, a spokeswoman for the South-Western School District, which includes Central Crossing High. She had no further comment, citing the ongoing police investigation.

Hallas admitted in an interview with Grove City police Detective Rick Steller that he received nude photos of his student, who was 17 at the time, according to the criminal complaint.

Hallas received the photos on May 11, 2016, according to court documents.

Hallas is being held in the Franklin County jail. He is set to appear in court Friday morning.
