A seventh New Albany City Council member could be chosen as soon as Nov. 6, according to council clerk Jennifer Mason.

The person selected would replace Glyde Marsh, who died Sept. 11 at age 99 after serving as a council member since 1993.

Applications for the council seat will be posted online Wednesday, Oct. 3, or Thursday, Oct. 4, Mason said, and would need to be returned to the city by 5 p.m. Oct. 15.

On Oct. 23, City Council hold an executive session to determine which candidates would be interviewed, Mason said.

Council members will interview candidates Nov. 6 and could make a recommendation for appointment that evening, Mason said.

The appointee would have to run for re-election in November 2019 to finish Marsh's four-year term, Mason said. The term expires Dec. 31, 2021.
