The German Village Pet Parade is planned for 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 28 in Schiller Park.

Registration for the event, co-hosted by Laurie Arsenault and Whitney Bradley, will start at 2 p.m. and the costume contest is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.

There will be 10 categories, from best celebrity costume to most creative costume.

For the first time, the event will host local pet-friendly vendors, including local rescue organizations, and pet-friendly merchandise sold by small businesses in around the neighborhood, Arsenault said.

There will be a drawing of random winners who will get Wag Bags filled with treats and coupons from the vendors.

Bark, the New York-based company best known for its monthly subscription service BarkBox, will be donating dog toys and dog treats for all of the costume categories.

Village resident Mike Cornelis will be donating American Pan professional baking pans which will include dog friendly treat recipes.
