Hilliard's Veterans Day parade will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, 4100 Columbia St.

In keeping with its past tradition, the parade will be held on Veterans Day – Nov. 11 – rather than the government's observation this year Nov. 12, said Tom Rowe, commander of Hilliard American Legion Memorial Post 614.

It also serves as the parade for the the American Legion's 12th District Council.

The parade will leave the fairgrounds from Gate 4 at Northwest Parkway and proceed south to Avery Road, south on Main Street to Scioto Darby Road and west on Scioto Darby Road. It will conclude with a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park, 3800 Veterans Memorial Drive.

Anyone interested in participating in the parade should go to hilliardvetparade.com.

The parade's grand marshal, Sgt. Maj. George Mussi, a retired Marine and commander of the Legion's 12th District, will speak briefly at the ceremony.

After the parade, a free bean and cornbread dinner will be served from 3 to 6 p.m. at Hilliard United Methodist Church, 5445 Scioto Darby Road.
