The Reynoldsburg Division of Police is searching for a driver who did not stop after striking and critically injuring a pedestrian about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 9 near the Oakbrook Apartment complex entrance on Waggoner Road.

Lt. Bill Early said the victim, an adult man, was walking north on the berm of Waggoner Road with his sister when he was struck by a vehicle traveling south.

The man’s sister told police the driver of the vehicle did not stop and continued traveling south on Waggoner. She said they were walking home from an East Main Street business.

“We also got a call from a driver passing by who saw the victim lying in the road,” Early said.

The man was taken to Mount Carmel East Hospital after the incident and was in critical condition Monday, Dec. 10.

Early said investigators are pulling video surveillance of Waggoner Road from several local businesses, such as Fifth Third Bank, 7980 E. Broad St., and VFW Post 9473, 1420 Waggoner Road, and are seeking help from the community.

“Our hope is that someone heard or saw something that night that could help us,” Early said. “We are looking for anything we can at this point.”

Anyone with information or tips about the incident should call the Reynoldsburg police dispatch center at 614-866-6622 and request to speak with the duty supervisor.
