The Canal Winchester school district has placed girls basketball coach Willie Jordan on leave after allegations of inappropriate conduct.
Jordan, who is in his fifth season and is not a teacher in the district, is on leave pending the results of the district’s investigation, according to a press release from the district Dec. 13.
The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is conducting its own investigation of Jordan, who has not been charged with a crime.
ThisWeek left a voice mail message seeking comment from Jordan on Dec. 14.
“The safety of our students is our first priority, and the district has made all required reports, will cooperate fully with law enforcement and has begun its own investigation,” the district said in a statement. “Once the district was made aware of the allegations, Mr. Jordan was immediately placed on administrative leave per board policy. …
“We take the allegations seriously and will see this investigation to its full and complete conclusion. Because this is an ongoing legal investigation, and to comply with state and federal student privacy laws, we cannot provide further comment at this time.”
Jordan is 42-55 overall and 19-31 in league play at Canal Winchester.
The Indians are 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the OCC-Capital Division this season.
