Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

1775 Darby Creek Drive, Galloway

Friday Night Movie "Disney Nature: Bears," 6:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Nature Center. Guests can follow a family of brown bears in the mountains of Alaska.

Ohio Geology Display, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 19-27 at the Nature Center. Visitors can learn about the geology of Ohio.

Night Life in the Stream, 5:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Nature Center. Guests can see what animals awaken after dark in the 53-foot living stream.

Full Moon Hike, 5 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Ranger Station. Guests can take a brisk, moonlit 4-mile hike through fields and forests.

Blacklick Woods Metro Park

6975 E. Livingston Ave., Reynoldsburg

Owl Hike, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Nature Center. Guests can take a 2-mile walk to search the trails for roosting barred owls.

Ice Age Ohio Display, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 19 and 20 at the Nature Center. Guests can learn about life in Ohio during the Ice Age.

Blendon Woods Metro Park

4265 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Westerville

Bird Feeder Bingo, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 19-21 at the Nature Center. Guests can bring family and friends to see who can spot the birds.

Preschoolers: Puppet Show, 9:30 and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Jan. 24 and 25 at the Nature Center. Children can join the Blendon Woods puppets on a wintry adventure.

Highbanks Metro Park

9466 U.S. Route 23 N., Lewis Center

Howl at the Moon, 6:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Nature Center. Guests can bring a canine friend for a 3.5-mile hike.

Young Explorers: Wintry Hike, 11 a.m. Jan. 23 at the Nature Center. Children ages 2-5 can bundle up and take a short hike looking for animals and learn through games, activities, videos and displays.


4675 Cosgray Road, Hilliard

Winter Wonderland Scavenger Hunt, noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Nature Center. Children ages 4-12 can stop by to pick up a scavenger hunt list, then return for a prize and some hot chocolate.

Rocky Fork Metro Park

7180 Walnut St., Westerville

Winter Residents, 10 a.m. Jan. 20 at the Millstone Shelter. Guests can find birds spending the winter at the park.

Scioto Audubon Metro Park

400 W. Whittier St., Columbus

Preschool Storytime, 10 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays at the Grange Insurance Audubon. Guests can bring little ones for a nature-inspired story or two.

Weekly Bird Hike, 10 a.m. Saturdays at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. Guests can search for birds in the park.

46th annual Winter Hike Series, 10 a.m. Jan. 19 at the Climbing Wall. Guests can take a 1- or 2-mile hike along the Greenway and park trails. Food and drink will be offered after.

Sharon Woods Metro Park

6911 Cleveland Ave., Westerville

Homeschoolers: Water Journey, 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Spring Hollow Lodge. Students ages 6-12 can take an adventure as a water droplet and explore the importance of water around the globe.

Fast-Paced Adult Full Moon Hike, 5:45 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Apple Ridge Bulletin Board. Guests can take a fast-paced 2.8-mile hike along gravel, paved and natural surface trails.

Natural Play Area Adventures: Fort Building, 2 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Natural Play Area. Guests can build a fort using natural materials found off-trail.

Three Creeks Park

3860 Bixby Road, Groveport

Natural Play Area: Shelter Building, 10 a.m. Jan. 19 at the Confluence Area. Guests can practice making a survival shelter using materials found in the woods.

Calling All Kids: Owl Pellets, 9:30 or 11 a.m. Jan. 21 at the Heritage Nature Center, 551 Wirt Road, Groveport. Children ages 4-17 can learn about owls, food webs and adaptations by dissecting an owl pellet.
