It was Presidents Day every day in 1975, after the Center of Science and Industry, then on East Broad Street, opened an exhibit showing replicas of all the presidents of the United States.
Each handmade figure was two-thirds life size.
The exhibit was launched in conjunction with the bicentennial celebration set for the following year.
Presidents George Washington through Gerald Ford are represented in this photo.
When a visitor pushed a button, a spotlight would illuminate the appropriate model and a tape recording would play.
Comments were taken from speeches and remarks delivered while the presidents were in office.
Talks from Theodore Roosevelt to Gerald Ford were actual recordings, and earlier presidents' comments were recorded by local actors and community leaders.
The models were removed when COSI moved to its new building on West Broad Street in 1999.
