One was found lying outside a car at the crossing near Trabue Road and McKinley Avenue; the other two were found inside a badly damaged car sitting on the railroad tracks, a Columbus police dispatcher said.
It is unclear how the car was damaged, and investigators have not determined how the three people died, the dispatcher said. No train was on the tracks when the car was discovered.
Large amounts of cash were found on the ground and blowing through the air, the dispatcher said.
The Columbus police accident-investigation unit is on the scene, the dispatcher said.
