Dublin police Chief Heinz von Eckartsberg will retire from the city's police department to serve as assistant superintendent with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, according to a news release sent today, Feb. 26, from the city of Dublin.

His last day with the city will be March 22, according to the release.

Dublin's sixth police chief began working at the police department in 1983. His career included roles as patrol officer, patrol sergeant, operations commander and services-bureau commander, according to the release.

Upon von Eckartsberg's retirement, Deputy Chief Justin Paez will become interim chief, the release said.
