Whitehall school board members will name a new vice president and officially accept the resignation of board President Blythe Wood in a special session scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Whitehall City Schools' administrative offices, 625 S. Yearling Road.

Board members are expected to name a successor to Mike Adkins, the board’s former vice president, who took the mantle of president on the resignation of Wood, effective Feb. 21.

Wood tendered a letter of resignation Feb. 21 to Superintendent Brian Hamler, effective immediately, but after the adjournment of the board’s Feb. 21 meeting.

Board members March 7 will formally accept Wood’s resignation, appoint a new vice president, then adjourn into a closed executive session to consider the appointment of a new board member from among the candidates who filed resumes and letters of interest.

Board members are not expected to appoint the new member until March 11.

The board is scheduled to meet in executive session at 5 p.m. March 11 at the district’s administrative offices.

After adjournment of the executive session, board members are expected to make an appointment, according to an agenda the district issued announcing the special meeting.
