Delaware City Council members will consider an ordinance that would prohibit the use of tobacco near city parks at their meeting Monday, March 11.
The gathering will be held at 7 p.m. in council chambers, 1 S. Sandusky St.
The proposed ordinance would ban smoking, vaping and other forms of tobacco use within 50 feet of recreational facilities in city parks, according to the meeting's agenda.
Representatives of the Delaware General Health District and the city's parks and recreation advisory board approached council in July, asking for tobacco use in parks to be addressed.
Also March 11, council will consider an ordinance that would approve a final development plan for Seattle House Apartments, a 240-unit complex planned north of U.S. Route 36/state Route 37 and south of Bowtown Road.
Council approved the preliminary design plan in September.
In addition, City Council members will hold a third reading of an ordinance to approve a final development plan for a new Burger King restaurant at 1034 W. Central Ave.
