The Dublin City Schools Board of Education members March 11 unanimously approved a two-year contract for Mike Aurin to become principal at Dublin Jerome High School.

Aurin has served as the principal at Jonathan Alder High School since 2015.

His Dublin contract includes a salary of $121,944 and a benefits package valued about $36,583, for a total compensation of $158,527.

At the March 11 meeting Aurin thanked the district and community for the opportunity and said he wanted to return to Dublin because it served him well during the 15 years he worked here.

"I'm just ready to get to work," he said.

Aurin will replace Dustin Miller, who is in his 20th year with the Dublin district and his fourth year at Jerome.

Miller is leaving the district to become an Ohio State University professor in educational administration and direct its doctoral program.

Aurin's new position is a homecoming of sorts for the Plain City resident.

After serving first as a science teacher at Dublin Scioto High School, Aurin moved to Jerome when the school opened.

From 2012-15, he served as assistant principal there before becoming principal at Jonathan Alder.
