Franklin County officials will take part in Ohio’s statewide tornado drill scheduled for 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 20.

The 3-minute drill will replace the county’s weekly test of the Franklin County Outdoor Warning Siren System at noon, according to a March 13 news release from the Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security.

“Tornadoes can develop quickly, with little or no warning so it’s important to know what to do and where to go before severe weather strikes," EMA director Jeffrey J. Young said in the release. “The annual statewide tornado drill is the perfect opportunity for everyone to plan ahead and practice their emergency plan.”

The drill is part of the state’s Spring Severe Weather Awareness Week March 17-23.
