The Delaware County District Library has chosen a space in a proposed development at Home and Steitz roads for its new Powell branch.
At their Tuesday, March 19 meeting, the library’s board of trustees announced that the site had been chosen unanimously over one other option, which library leaders never revealed.
“I don’t think any of us have any doubts at all,” board member Holly Quaine said.
The 11.7-acre development project, helmed by developer John Wicks, plans two 7,000-square-foot retail spaces and 68 townhomes and "garden apartments" aimed at young professionals and future employees of Ohio State University's planned ambulatory-care center at Home Road and Sawmill Parkway.
The new library building is expected to be about 20,000 square feet and two floors.
Powell’s existing branch at 460 S. Liberty St., will continue operation.
