Facebook plans to build a third facility at its New Albany data-center complex, according to an April 2 entry on the social-media company's Facebook account.

The campus previously was expected to be divided into two massive, connected buildings totaling 970,000 square feet on 345 acres in the Licking County portion of New Albany, along Beech Road south of state Route 161. It would be in the New Albany International Business Park.

Now, Facebook will expand the campus by more than 500,000 square feet, bringing the three-building campus to a total of nearly 1.5 million square feet, according to the April 2 announcement.

The first phase has been slated for completion in 2019, and the second phase is expected to be finished in 2020, according to previous Facebook announcements.

Facebook had expected to have 100 permanent employees there, the majority in technical positions. It was expected that about 1,000 construction jobs would be created during the building phase.

Facebook announced in August 2017 that it would build the $750 million data-center complex in New Albany.
