Negotiations are underway between Madison Township and the union representing the township's firefighters and medics. The previous three-year contract, which included 3% pay increases each year and wellness incentives for the approximately 50 firefighters, medics, lieutenants and battalion chiefs who are members of the Madison Township Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2507, expired April 30.

Representatives from both sides declined to comment on the status of negotiations.

Madison Township operates three fire stations: Station 181 at 4567 Firehouse Lane, Groveport; Station 182 at 6600 Gender Road, Canal Winchester; and Station 183 at 3232 Noe Bixby Road, Columbus.

According to information from the township, firefighters currently earn base salaries of between $48,267 and $78,856 annually, depending on longevity. Lieutenants are paid between $83,320 and $88,319 per year. Battalion chiefs earn $100,683 annually. Chief Jeff Fasone, who is not a member of the union, is paid a base salary of about $96,000 annually.
