Whit's Frozen Custard is coming to New Albany's Market Square this summer.

The location is Whit's 33rd in Ohio and will be the only one to offer pies from Just Pies, according to a May 6 release from Hinson Ltd. Public Relations.

Whit's will be adjacent to Starbucks at 220 Market St., Suite B, the release said.

VeloScience Bike Works, which has been in that space since October 2012, will move to 29 High St., at East Dublin Granville Road and state Route 605.

Wil Hollands, who will co-own the Whit's New Albany location with his partner, Jason Hollands, said Market Square is a great location because many people in the community gather there. He and Jason have been residents of New Albany for about 12 years, he said.

Wil Hollands said he hopes is to open Whit's by mid-July.

VeloScience owner Geoff Clark said the move will provide the extra space that is necessary for his store. The new location, which Clark is renting from the New Albany Co., is 2,800 square feet, more than double the 1,200 square feet of the Market Street space.

"The biggest thing is space," said Clark, who added that his goal was to remain in New Albany.

While the Market Square location made sense when VeloScience first located there, group bike rides now usually begin elsewhere in the city because Market Square has become congested, Clark said.

Clark, who said he plans to open by the end of May, was the only full-time employee at the Market Street location, but he said he's added a second full-time employee in anticipation of the move.

He also has part-time and seasonal employees.
