You don’t have to be nosy to be curious about the neighbors’ home decor, renovations or gardens.

And with home-and-garden tour season kicking off, you won’t have to sneak a peek over the fence or through the hedge to see some of central Ohio’s most interesting houses and yards.

Organizers of the Bexley House & Garden Tour are preparing to welcome guests at nine stops from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 2. Cost is $20 in advance, $25 day of tour.

Guests can enjoy a complimentary shuttle aboard the Bexley BEAT bus. Artists, musicians and food trucks will be featured.

Denise Blank, a homeowner participating in this year’s tour, has participated in the tour before – but in a different house. And her previous Bexley home was very different from her current home.

“The one we lived in before just turned 100 last year,” Blank said.

Now she and her husband live in a new, empty-nester home they had built after the kids moved out. But her children still live in Bexley and her grandchildren all go to Bexley schools.

“I think Bexley is a unique community, especially in these days, where there is so much mobility. People never leave, or they leave and wind up coming back. Bexley has really remained the kind of American community where people know one another, help one another, and support local stores and businesses.”

The Bexley tour will feature a variety of homes, tour chairwoman Jane Baldwin said.

“We’ve got the small homes for empty nesters, one very large home of a couple who just married with a blended family, modern, traditional, a good mix,” Baldwin said.

“And all of the homes have beautiful yards – we’ve got some real gardeners this year.”
