Envisage Wealth has opened its third central Ohio office -- and fourth overall -- in a historic building in German Village.
The financial-planning and wealth-management firm is in the former Caterina Ltd. site at 571 S. Third St.
"We like to be in a community among art, coffee houses, restaurants, culture -- a lot of good energy," said Jeff Chaddock, the owner of Envisage Wealth, a franchise of Ameriprise Financial.
Caterina Ltd., which specialized in artisan household items, occupied the building for 14 years. The 6,100-square-foot, 3-story structure is believed to have been built in the 1870s.
Envisage Wealth, which manages more than $2 billion in assets, took possession of the building in November 2017 but didn't start construction toward its needs until 2018, said Megan Kaufman, spokeswoman for the company.
There were several delays, attributed to unforeseen complications with the building and permit issues, Kaufman said.
Chaddock said he has combined a modern look with classic features, such as a functioning vintage elevator, a speakeasy-style lounge with dark wood, vibrant artwork and antique machines, such as a manual coin separator.
The property includes a small shared space with an attorney's office to the south and a parking lot -- a relative luxury for German Village businesses -- across East Beck Street to the north.
The location has 15 employees, Kaufman said.
Chaddock has additional offices in Gahanna, Worthington and Athens, home of Ohio University, his alma mater.
The business formerly was known as the Chaddock Group, but a rebranding effort resulted in a name change last year, Kaufman said.
