A houseguest caused nearly $3,000 worth of damage in property Aug. 5 at the residence at which he was staying, according to unofficial reports from the Columbus Division of Police.
The victim said he allowed the suspect and his girlfriend to stay at his residence, in the 5700 block of Ballymead Boulevard.
At 7:14 p.m., the suspect apparently became enraged and destroyed property throughout the residence. The items included TVs valued at $2,100 total, a $700 dresser, a $100 thermostat and a $20 mirror. The victim also cut himself and bled on the walls, carpet and electronics.
In other incident reports from northwest Columbus:
* Two laptop computers valued at $3,000 total, two electronic devices valued at $1,700 total, a $200 hard drive, an $800 sling bag, a $200 pair of sunglasses and various credit cards and forms of ID were stolen at 5:27 p.m. July 31 from a residence in the 5400 block of Winding Way.
* A $12,000 Honda CRF450X motorcycle was stolen between 6 p.m. July 31 and 7 a.m. Aug. 1 from the 5000 block of Dierker Road.
* At 4:47 p.m. Aug. 3, three suspects entered a store in the 5800 block of Sawmill Road and were accused of stealing more than $1,500 worth of merchandise.
A witness said he watched the suspects enter the store and attempt to return merchandise they didn't buy.
The first suspect was denied the transaction but left the store with $478 worth of disposal items.
The second suspect, however, was successful in getting in-store credit for $1,131.98.
No one was arrested, reports said.
* A $5,000 Mercedes-Benz 240C was stolen between midnight and 3 a.m. Aug. 3 in the 7700 block of Hansgrove Court.
The victim said he and the suspect left a bar to have some drinks at the victim's residence.
The victim said that after he used the bathroom, he returned to find his keys and vehicle gone.
