Yogi’s Bar & Grill has opened its third location at a high-profile spot at the northwest corner of West Henderson and Kenny roads.

The tavern has taken over the former Average Joe’s Pub & Grill location, 1126 W. Henderson Road in Columbus.

“It checked enough boxes for us,” co-owner Greg Tishkoff said of the site. “The parking isn’t perfect, but it’s sufficient.”

The building, which once housed a Borders bookstore, has been turned into a retail center.

Yogi’s occupies 4,000 square feet, seating 175 in an open space with a high ceiling, numerous TVs, garage-door windows along a wall facing east and a new bar.

Tishkoff, along with partners Eric Goodman and Katie Summers, took over the property in January and began the build out in April, opening Sept. 26.

The menu offers typical tavern fare: sandwiches, burgers, wings, pizza, soups and salads.

“We are not a scratch kitchen,” Tishkoff said. “We’d like to think, in our niche of sports bars, we put a little more ‘TLC’ into our food.”

Examples include the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, pot roast sandwich, Florida grouper tacos, three braised pork shanks with barbecue sauce and a meatless burger, which Tishkoff praises.

“It’s good,” he said. “It’s got flavor.”

Most individual items are in the $10 range.

Goodman said the company wants to grow but is being careful and deliberate about its plans.

“We are wanting to expand,” he said. “That being said, we don’t want to rush it. We want to get this place up and running.”

The other two locations are on Karric Square Drive off Frantz Road, south of Tuttle Crossing Boulevard, and at 3880 Hard Road, between Emerald Parkway and Sawmill Road.

Kitchen hours are 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. daily. For more information, call 614-914-9117.
