Dublin's annual Halloween Spectacular is underway at the Dublin Community Recreation Center, 5600 Post Road.
The event started at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, and ends at 8 p.m.
About 5,000 children were expected to attend, said Alison LeRoy, director of community events for Dublin.
"It's probably one of our most fun events," she said.
Children were lining up before 3 p.m. for the Trunk or Treat Trail, which features local businesses and organizations – including the ThisWeek Dublin Villager – handing out candy and other treats.
Other Halloween festivities include performances by the Shamrockers of Dublin, a pumpkin carver, magic shows, crafts, dance performances and the Haunted Trail.
A new feature is a petting zoo featuring chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, alpacas and a miniature horse.
Akira, Carly and Dean Okamoto were attending the event Oct. 24 and taking part on the Trunk or Treat Trail.
Carly Okamoto said the event was a lot of fun for her family, especially on a rare 65-degree late October afternoon.
"The weather's great," she said.
