Harvest Pizzeria plans to take over the Westies Gastropub site at 940 S. Front St. in Columbus' Brewery District.

The space is significantly larger than Harvest's German Village location, at 495 S. 4th St., which closed in April after eight years.

"It gives us room to breathe and guests to stretch out a little," Harvest owner Chris Crader said in a news release. "However, retaining the welcoming atmosphere of the original space is a priority."

Harvest plans to divide the space into a bar and a restaurant, said Danny Cathcart, director of marketing for Crader's Grow Restaurants, which owns Harvest Pizzerias and other ventures.

"We're very early on in the process," he said, "but we're fortunate that we're inheriting a restaurant space that has the infrastructure in place. It makes the build-out easier."

The menu will be similar to that at the four other Harvest restaurants. Harvest also operates restaurants in Bexley, Clintonville, Dublin and Cincinnati. Another Harvest, in Grandview Heights, closed earlier this year.

Cathcart said Harvest hopes to open the Brewery District restaurant in January or February.

In addition to the Harvest Pizzerias, Grow Restaurants operates the Sycamore restaurant in German Village and Cosecha Cocina restaurant in Italian Village.

The Brewery District location was the last of three Westies. Short North and Clintonville locations closed in the past year.
