A popular drive-in hamburger restaurant could be coming to Clintonville.

Swensons Drive-In, which is based in Akron, is listed in the "new business" section of the Clintonville Area Commission meeting agenda for Thursday, Nov. 7.

Ron Dee, vice president of real estate for Swensons, is listed as a co-presenter.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at the Whetstone branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, 3909 N. High St. in Columbus.

Swensons was founded in 1934 and until recently was exclusive to northeast Ohio near Akron; three drive-ins opened in the past few years in Cleveland’s University Heights, North Olmstead and Avon communities before Swensons turned to central Ohio.

The first central Ohio Swensons opened in November 2018 on Sawmill Road near Dublin. A second location opened in February near Polaris Fashion Place in north Columbus and a third opened Sept. 23 on Cemetery Road in Hilliard is the third to open in central Ohio.

A north Columbus location near Gahanna is under construction on North Hamilton Road and another location is planned in Reynoldsburg.
