Whitehall police confiscated a realistic-looking toy gun from three 11-year-old boys after officers responded to a caller who saw the boys with what was believed to be a real gun at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Langley and Martha avenues.

A plain-clothes officer observed the three boys walking and saw one of the boys hand an item to another boy as a marked cruiser approached them, according to reports.

An investigation found that one of the boys had the toy gun in his waistband.

It appeared genuine but had an orange tip, indicating it was not a real firearm, reports said.

All three juveniles were transported to the residence of the mother of one of the boys, who took custody of all three.

The toy gun was entered into the police department's property room to be destroyed, according to reports.
