A recount that could decide the results of Nov. 5's Powell City Council race will be held Dec. 2.

The final canvass of the Delaware County Board of Elections, conducted Friday, Nov. 22, showed incumbent Jon Bennehoof with 1,198 votes and challenger Nicole Scott with 1,188 votes -- a difference of 10 votes -- in the contest for the third of three open council seats.

Board director Karla Herron said the close result triggers a mandatory recount, which will be conducted at 10 a.m. Dec. 2.

Initial results on Election Day had Bennehoof and Scott separated by 11 votes.

Challenger Heather Karr and incumbent Dan Swartwout won the other two available council seats in the Nov. 5 election.
