Do you know a teacher who goes above and beyond in the classroom to help students succeed? How about an educator who gets students to love math and science, or who excels at working with special needs students?
We want to hear about central Ohio educators who make a difference.
Nominations are now open for the 2020 Teachers of the Year awards, presented by ThisWeek Community News and Columbus Parent. For the seventh year, we will recognize three outstanding teachers: one each at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
Anyone can submit a nomination, including parents, students, colleagues and administrators. The submission period is Dec. 5 to Jan. 16. Make a nomination on our contest page.
The editorial staffs of Parent and ThisWeek will review all of the nominations and choose a group of finalists. Finalists’ nominations will be posted online (nominators will not be identified by name), and readers will vote to determine the winners starting in late February.
Winners will be recognized with award ceremonies at their buildings before the end of the school year. The results will be announced in the Summer issue of Columbus Parent and in ThisWeek Community News.
Our 2019 winners were: Jim Ledford, a first-grade teacher at Alcott Elementary School; Scott Delligatti, a science teacher at Genoa Middle School; and Cait Maloy, a science teacher at Westerville North High School. Go to ThisWeekNEWS.com/teachersoftheyear to read their stories.
