The city of Grandview Heights is seeking candidates to fill the council vacancy that will result when Greta Kearns is sworn in as mayor Jan. 1.

Kearns, who is in the second year of her second four-year term on Grandview Heights City Council, was elected Nov. 5 as mayor. She will replace Ray DeGraw, who is retiring.

Kearns' unexpired council term runs through Dec. 31, 2021.

Council must appoint a candidate to fill the position within 45 days of the vacancy.

Prospective applicants should send a letter of intent, resume or both to council clerk Leilani Napier's office, 1016 Grandview Ave., or via email to no later than 4 p.m. Dec. 30.

Interviews are tentatively scheduled to be held the week of Jan. 6.
