Sheetz, a gas station known for quality convenience-store food, is coming to Columbus.

But just when and where remains a mystery at the moment.

“At this time, it is just too early in the process to provide additional details on specific store locations and a projected total of stores coming to Columbus,” said Nick Ruffner, public-relations manager for the chain based in Altoona, Pennsylvania. “I look forward to sharing those details soon.

“I will say that we are excited to start serving customers in Columbus in spring 2021.”

Sheetz, a family-run company which opened in 1952, operates more than 500 stores throughout Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, according to the company’s website.

The stores closest to Columbus are in Zanesville and Cambridge.

Stores are typically 5,000 to 6,000 square feet, Ruffner said.

“Our stores are really a one-stop-shop where customers can gas up their vehicles, enjoy made-to-order food and specialty drinks and pick up a wide variety of snacks ... (and) beverages – all in one place,” he said.
