Two men told Whitehall police they were assaulted and robbed at 4:45 p.m. Dec. 29 at an apartment on the 4200 block of East Broad Street.

Police responded to a 911 call from a woman who reported her neighbor had been robbed, then said "never mind" and hung up, according to reports.

The woman told police she had transported her boyfriend to a local hospital and gave a secondhand account of the incident, police said.

Officers went to the hospital, where the woman's boyfriend told police he was at the apartment of the other victim when three unknown males, after the door was opened, entered and assaulted the resident of the apartment.

The man reported one of the intruders pointed a gun at his stomach and said, "Where's it at?"

After the man told him he did not know what "it" was, the intruder pistol-whipped him and he lost consciousness, according to reports.

When he awoke, the apartment was empty; he returned to his own apartment and his girlfriend drove him to the hospital, reports said.

The victim has a warrant for his arrest for a traffic violation, according to reports.

Police later went to the scene of the incident, where the resident first told police the assault had occurred outside his apartment, but later said two males had entered, assaulted him and pointed a gun at the other man, demanding money.

When asked by police to speculate on a motive, the resident said they might have thought he had money because he had a job.

The man told police they did not take anything.

No charges had been filed as of Jan. 4.
