Columbus police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Jan. 9 just outside Grandview Heights.
Officers were dispatched about 12:05 a.m. to the area of Grandview Avenue and West Third Avenue in Columbus on a report of shots fired.
When they arrived, officers found a 26-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman in the parking lot of Sunoco, 658 Grandview Ave.
Both victims had been shot multiple times, police reported.
The report did not list where the victims live.
They were taken to area hospitals in critical condition and both underwent emergency surgery, according to police.
Although the incident occurred in Columbus, the Grandview Heights Division of Police reported received numerous calls from residents after some early reports indicated the shootings took place in Grandview.
Grandview police issued a news release around noon Jan. 9 clarifying that the incident did not take place in Grandview and that the investigation is being handled by Columbus police.
