Powell City Council has interviewed five of the 16 candidates who applied to become Powell's next city manager.

Current City Manager Steve Lutz announced his intent to retire in August. He agreed to remain in his post until the city hires his replacement.

Lutz said the candidates who have been interviewed by council are:

* Richard Downey, village administrator, Kronenwetter, Wisconsin

* Daryl Hennessy, city manager, Charles Town, West Virginia

* Deborah McDonnell, most recently county administrator, Allegany County, New York

* Erik Norenberg, most recently city manager, Milford, Delaware

* Andrew White, city manager, Huron.

Lutz, 57, has served as city manager since 1996.

Council is working with recruitment firm Ralph Anderson & Associates on the search. The firm provided the list of 16 applicants late last year.
