Columbus Association for the Performing Arts is starting a new film festival – Cinema Columbus – that will begin in the spring.
Rolanda Copley, publicist for CAPA, said the festival is new and the organization’s leaders will have more information in April.
Copley said the organization is focused on receiving film submissions and that no decision would be made about what will be shown “for several weeks,” she said.
She said CAPA leaders plan to make the festival a yearly event. This year’s event is scheduled May 7 to 17.
Copley said the films chosen would be shown at the Drexel Theatre, 2254 E. Main St. in Bexley; the Gateway Film Center, 1550 N. High St. in Columbus; and “select CAPA venues.”
Copley said events would be planned throughout the film festival, such as red-carpet events and filmmaker talks.
Festival organizers are accepting submissions for narrative feature films, documentary feature films, narrative shorts and documentary shorts.
Submissions will be accepted until March 22. The fee to submit is $55.
A panel of local experts will judge submissions. Those selected will be notified by March 30.
