As city and school officials monitor situations related to the COVID-19 coronavirus, Gahanna Mayor Laurie Jadwin sent communication to residents via social media on March 15 regarding city operations.

Starting Monday, March 16, City Hall will be closed to the public, except by appointment only. The only exceptions include:

• City Council meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 16. It will be live-streamed on the city’s Facebook Page.

• As a polling location, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17.

• Mayor’s Court on Thursday, March 20.

Residents who normally visit city buildings for services are asked to conduct their business online or over the phone.

“As the COVID-19 public health situation comes closer to Gahanna, one thing is certain – we are living in unprecedented times,” Jadwin wrote. “Gov. (Mike) DeWine has mandated many restrictions over the last several days, and we recognize the difficult challenges that these present to our Gahanna residents and businesses.”

Working in alignment with the Gahanna-Jefferson schools, Gahanna Division of Police and Mifflin Township Fire, Jadwin said, the actions that are being taken are intended to protect public safety and well-being.

“We will take whatever actions we reasonably can to meet the needs of everyone in our community,” she said. “By working together and supporting one another, I am confident that we will get through this difficult time.”

Jadwin said the senior center is completely closed to the public other than as a polling location, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, for the primary election.

The Gahanna parks are open during regular hours but bathrooms and shelter houses are closed.

Jadwin said the Gahanna Golf Course & Club House/Pro-shop will be closed until further notice.

All reservations involving Gahanna Parks and Recreation facility rentals are canceled through April 6, with full refunds to be issued.

All non-essential meetings on city property are canceled until further notice, according to Jadwin.
