Between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. March 7, $1,500 jewelry and $120 cash were stolen from a vehicle parked on the 500 block of South Pearl Street, according to a Columbus Division of Police incident report.

In other recent police incident reports from the area:

* A man said he was assaulted at 8 p.m. March 8 on the 500 block of South High Street.

He told police he was having a casual conversation with another person and turned to walk away.

That's when the other person grabbed him from behind and struck him once in the right side of the face, according to reports.

* Two attempted break-ins were reported March 7 in the neighborhood.

In one, which occurred between midnight and 9 a.m. on the 800 block of Bruck Street, a woman got a text from her neighbor asking if everything was alright because a window at the side of her residence was open.

The woman said she did not lock the window, but shut it before going to bed. Nothing appeared to be missing, reports said.

The second break-in attempt occurred at 3 a.m. on the 700 block of Beech Street. A man said he was awakened when the security alarm at his house was activated. He said the window above the sink was open, but nothing was believed to be missing.

* A man was issued a summons to appear in court to answer a charge of assault after a road-rage incident 12:45 p.m. March 7 at the intersection of Thurman Avenue and Bruck Street.

The man cut off another driver, exited his vehicle and struck the other driver several times in the face and pushed him to the ground, according to the police report.
