Delaware General Health District commissioner Shelia Hiddleson has announced the first confirmed case of COVID-19 coronavirus in a Delaware County resident.
Hiddleson made the announcement via Facebook Live video on the health district's Facebook page Wednesday, March 18.
The resident, who was not named in the video, reportedly attended a medical conference in New York City earlier this month. The conference has confirmed other instances of positive tests for COVID-19 among those in attendance, Hiddleson said.
The resident, whom Hiddleson said was in the 50-year-old range, has not been hospitalized and is "recovering nicely at home," she said.
