First place -- "How to Make a Friend" by Alice Schott

Once upon a time there was a robin walking around the street trying to make a friend. She found a rock. Hello rock said the robin. No one answered. She was sad and flew away. Then she found a flag but still no answer, so she flew away.

Then she came to a rug. The rug was all nice cozy. She thought this rug would surely want to be my friend, "hello rug" said the robin but no one answered. The robin then came to a bee and she knew they could be dangerous so she flew away.

Then she came to a skunk and smelled something bad. The skunk yelled "Stay out of my territory." So she flew away and she was sad because no one was answering her nicely and she is trying to find a friend.

Then a turtle came. Hi said the turtle, what are you doing? The robin replied, I've been trying to make a friend. I've tried a rock, I've tried a flag, a rug, and a bee, but I got frightened and ran away. I also tried a skunk but he was mean.

The turtle said, I'll be your friend. Making friends can be hard. My name is Aron, What is your name? The robin replied, My name is Olivia.

Not everyone is friendly, said Aron the turtle so you should just walk away if someone is being mean to you. Then the turtle said, and not all bees are scary. We could try to talk to them again. No, said Olivia the robin, I am too scared. It's OK to be scared said Aron.

Okay, I'll try again, let's go talk to those bees. I hope they don't sting me, Gulp said Olivia.

As they walked Aron explained that rugs, rocks, and flags cannot talk back because they are not real. Oh, I did not know that said Olivia, as they approached the bees. The bees got scared and ran into their hive. I guess that plan did not work, said Olivia with relief because she was still scared of getting stung.

Aron the turtle said, well we are friends so we can go in the field and play ball. That's a fun idea said Olivia. Olivia the robin and Aron the turtle ended up being friends forever.

Second place -- "Mario's Awesome, Super Cool, Epic, and Original Book!" by Camden Mercurio

Meet Toads, Goombas, Kopa Tropas, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Kamek, and, most of all, Mario! Now, let's hop into that green pipe and pay Mario a visit!

The basic moves in Mario games are easy to pick up. In fact, there are only basic moves! The most important move is jump. Without jump, the games would be impossible!

Super Mario 64 was Mario's first 3-D adventure, and it was awesome! Each course had multiple stars to collect. There are 120 stars to collect. You battle Bowser not once, not twice, but three times! Sounds tough, huh?

After a long time in 3-D, Mario decided to have a 2-D game. New Super Mario Bros. was that game. New Super Mario Bros. 2, Wii, U, and U deluxe followed.

Super Mario Odyssey lets you play as enemies! Just throw Cappy onto an enemy and, BAM! - you're playing as them! You can also buy new outfits for Mario.

Super Mario Maker lets you build Mario levels. The sequel, Super Mario Maker 2, added a new game style: Super Mario 3D World. It also added many more level types.

Over the years, Mario has gotten tons of power-ups from Mushrooms to Power Acorns and even 1-up Mushrooms.

Mario and Luigi have many foes, from The Kopalings to a space alien named Tanga. Luckily, the brothers have some tricks up their sleeves, so they manage to defeat their foes, even though they keep coming back for more.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle was Mario's first strategy game. Things from Mario's world were sucked into the Rabbid's world.

The Mario Party series is a collection of board game like video games. You even get to roll a die! That's the end! Now, let's get gaming!

"Dominick? Is that you?"

"Where are you?" said Calvin.

"I was at the E.M.C."

"What's that?"

"Electro Magnetic Company. I got their newest product; Electro Magnet."

"I need to go to the bathroom. Ahhhhh!!! What?! The... the thinga-majigy... was ... glowing... What ?!"

Calvin ran over. "I'll go get my toolbox." Calvin tried to fix it. "Itttsss.... nnnoooott... budging..."

"Calvin is that you?"

"Uh, yeah. Pssst... Hide it. Lunch Time."

"Can Dominick have lunch with us?"

Calvin's Mom - "Sure."

"What do you want?"

"Do you have burritos?"

Calvin's mom saw a flash of light. "I need to go to the bathroom." She looked in the closet. There it was.

"MOM!!! Aaaaahh..."

Dominick spilled. "Get a napkin."

"Come on, let's go."

Calvin's mom came in. "Where did they go? Dad is that you?"

"Not right now."

"Alright, let's go."

An hour later (Dominick's dad talking): "...blah, blah, blah, blah, new job, blah, blah, blah, blah at Electro Magnetic Company."

"Hey Dad, did you say, 'Electro Magnetic Company'?"

"Yes... I did." Boop. "One sec. Yello? Oh. Mm hmmm. Alright. Bye. Dominick; I need to go." He put on his coat... and left.

"Let's go to central Boston. I'll take my bike you take my brothers. Deal?"

"Deal. Dude, the hat. Go get it!" He went to go get it. He came back with nothing.

"Where'd it go?"

"In my backpack."

"Take it out."

A bright light shined. Dominick put it on. He got zapped!

"Ahh!! Take it off of me !!!" Calvin did.

"Let's give it back to the E.M.C."

"No. Let's just go to my grandpa's." He couldn't fix it. He drove them to North Massachusetts. "Thanks Grampa." They went to North Massachusetts Park.

"There's the engineering camp. Let's ask all of them to help fix it." And they did.

"How do we get home?"

"I don't know. We'll need to walk."

"Ahh !!"

"What ?!"

"My ankle!"

"Here, get on my back." They walked for miles.

"I'll call my dad. Uhh, no cell service."

"Have the hat?"

"Hey, look, my Mom. MOOOOOOOOOOM!"

They jumped up and down yelling. "MOOOOOOOM!" She stopped the car. They went home and gave the product back. Then two other kids got it.

Their names: Mike and Will.

Then, it starts all over again. And that is my story.
