Katzinger's Delicatessen was expected to open this fall in New Albany at 160 W. Main St. in the Market & Main II retail development on Main Street, between Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, also at 160 W. Main St., and the Philip Heit Center for Healthy New Albany, 150 W. Main St.

Tim Rollins, president of City Brands, the company that owns Katzinger’s, said the attention will be focused on existing restaurants and getting them on the “best operational footing in these uncertain times.”

“The restaurant market will be pretty tough in the near term, and we thought we should hold off on opening any new locations at this time,” Rollins said.

As the economy improves, City Brands hopes to have a new Katzinger’s in New Albany, he said.

“We believe downtown New Albany has really emerged as a dining destination, and we think it will be a great place for a new deli,” he said. “Our plan is to be part of that when the market recovers.”
