Southwest Public Libraries announced the first phase of reopening will begin Tuesday, May 26, according to a release Friday, May 22.

No-contact pickup of reserved items will start that day at the Grove City and Westland Area libraries.

Patrons will be notified by phone or email when items are ready and then may schedule a pickup time.

Tables will be set up near the main entrance of the Grove City Library, 3959 Broadway and Westland Area Library, 4740 W. Broad St., Columbus.

The buildings remain closed.

The service is beginning with holds ready before the libraries closed in March.

In June, officials expect to expand the pickup service to include requests for available materials. Patrons can place their requests at swpl.org.

Hours for pickup will be 1 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and noon to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Patrons also can return materials starting May 26 during pickup hours. Returns can be made to bins outside the parking-lot entrance at Grove City or in the outside book drop at Westland. All returned materials will be quarantined several days before being handled by staff.
