A 29-year-old Whitehall man was arrested by Whitehall police for having weapons under disability after officers responded to a report of a person with a gun at 2:10 a.m. June 20 on the 4000 block of Abbey Court.

Police responded to the area of Beechtree Road and Abbey Court to assist other officers already on the scene of a shots-fired call, according to reports.

As officers approached, they heard multiple gunshots coming from the back of an Abbey Court residence and saw a suspect pointing a gun into the air, reports said.

Officers ordered the suspect to drop the gun, but he reportedly ran inside the residence instead.

Police covering the front door of the residence apprehended the man as he attempted to run away, according to reports.

While in custody, the man said, "I was just shooting off guns. That's my gun," and gestured toward a 9mm pistol on the living-room floor of the home, reports said.

Police recovered shell casings outside the residence.
