The Johnstown-Monroe High School girls basketball team lost at 11th-seeded Bloom-Carroll 42-29 on Feb. 24 in the second round of the Division II district tournament to finish 10-13 overall.

Senior forward Sammy Edwards scored 10 points to lead the 14th-seeded Johnnies, who had a first-round bye. Sophomore guard Ashley Abner added eight points.

Johnstown finished third (6-7) in the LCL-Cardinal Division behind Utica (11-2) and Newark Catholic (7-6) and ahead of Heath (2-11) and Northridge (1-12).

Edwards averaged 10.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks, and sophomore guard Mackenzie Schneider averaged 8.3 points, 2.8 assists and 2.1 steals. Senior guard/forward Courtney Moore averaged 7.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.0 steals, and Abner averaged 7.4 points.

Wrestlers end
season at district

Senior Dakota Ramey and sophomore Tristan Bush competed for the wrestling team in the Division II district tournament March 3 and 4 at Heath.

Both went 0-2. Ramey finished 33-18 at 126 pounds and Bush was 17-30 at 152.
