Juniors Nathaniel Amoah and Victor Adebayo of the Licking Heights High School boys track and field team competed in the Division I regional meet May 24 and 26 at Pickerington North, but neither qualified for the state meet.

Amoah finished 11th in the 400 meters (50.55 seconds) and Adebayo was 13th in the 300 hurdles (42.15), as the top four finishers in each regional event advanced to state June 2 and 3 at Ohio State.

Amoah placed third in the 400 (50.62) and Adebayo was fourth in the 300 hurdles (41.2) in the district 4 meet that concluded May 20 at Westerville South, where the top four finishers in each event qualified for regional.

The Hornets totaled 15 points at district to place 12th of 15 teams, behind champion Thomas Worthington (136).

Amoah also placed seventh in the 200 (23.2) and senior Omar Jalloh was seventh in the 400 (51.73).

The Hornets placed fourth (45) in the LCL-Buckeye Division meet that concluded May 12 at home, behind Watkins Memorial (128), Granville (108) and Licking Valley (47) and ahead of Lakewood (25).

The girls team did not have any regional qualifiers after failing to score in the 17-team district 1 meet that concluded May 20 at Hilliard Darby.

Freshman Kusi Kimitra was 12th in the discus (95 feet, 8 inches) and the 3,200 relay of freshman Olivia Crosby, sophomore Emily Swisher, junior Hannah Swisher and senior Kelsey Strange was 14th (11:20.45).

The Hornets placed fifth (11) in the LCL-Buckeye meet, behind Granville (173), Watkins Memorial (98), Licking Valley (52) and Lakewood (19).

Boys volleyball team
finishes 5-15

The boys volleyball team finished 5-15 after losing to eighth-seeded Briggs 25-19, 25-18, 25-16 in a play-in match in the Division II East Region tournament May 19 at St. Charles.

The Hornets were seeded ninth in the 10-team field.

Licking Heights posted its wins against Northland (two), Eastmoor Academy, Reynoldsburg and Watterson. All but Watterson were first-year programs.
