Garrett Miller led a dominating ground game for the North Union High School football team Sept. 8 in a 35-14 victory over host Grandview.

Miller rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries to lead three players with more than 85 yards. The Wildcats rolled up 379 rushing yards on 57 carries and were 0-for-6 passing.

“We knew going into the season that our lines would be our strength,” said North Union coach Nick Hajjar, whose team improved to 2-1. “They played great for us up front. When you have a fast start, things can snowball and it snowballed for us in the right direction.”

Carson Smith rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries for North Union, and Drake Price added 86 yards on seven carries.

The Wildcats opened the game with a 16-play, 61-yard drive lasting 6 minutes, 12 seconds. Miller scored on a 7-yard run for a 7-0 lead.

Grandview’s Harrison Morosky took a snap to the right and was unable to get off a punt before being tackled at the Bobcats’ 25-yard line with about 3 minutes left in the first quarter. The Wildcats took advantage with a 1-yard scoring run by Smith with 30.3 seconds left in the first for a 14-0 lead.

“They pounded us,” said Grandview coach Jason Peters, whose team dropped to 2-1. “Then, we didn't do a good job of coming back.”

Grandview got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter on a 69-yard run by Morosky. Kyle Casey later added a 26-yard touchdown pass to Luke Lachey.

Casey was 5-for-11 passing for 61 yards. James Lachey ran for 78 yards on 10 carries, and Morosky added 63 yards on five carries.
