After winning its first Division I state championship, the Pickerington High School Central football program has received a national honor.

The MaxPreps Tour of Champions honored the program during a ceremony Jan. 25 at Central. The Tigers finished 23rd in the final rankings.

Central, which beat Mentor 56-28 on Dec. 1 to win the state title and finish 14-1, is one of 50 schools throughout the nation being honored.

At the ceremony, representatives from the Army National Guard presented the Tigers with a trophy., which is headquartered in Cameron Park, California, ranks more than 16,000 varsity high school football teams and also has tours for boys basketball, girls basketball, girls soccer, boys soccer and girls volleyball.
