Butcher is the state’s second all-time winningest girls coach, as he has a career record of 746-143 entering the Panthers’ game against Lancaster on Feb. 2. He led Pickerington, now Pickerington Central, to six state championships between 1985 and 1999 and coached the Tigers from 1983-2003 before coming to North when the district split, as did Liptrap.

Butcher coached the Panthers to the state tournament in 2007 and 2011 and led his teams to 23 consecutive district championships from 1989-2011.

Liptrap went 406-203, coaching 20 years at Pickerington and 10 seasons at North. He retired from the Panthers in June 2013 but has been an assistant coach at Bexley the past four seasons.

Liptrap’s teams won district championships in 1991 and 2002, and he led North teams to Division I district semifinals four times.
