Olentangy Liberty High School boys basketball player Ben Roderick, one of the top juniors in central Ohio, is out for the remainder of the season with a torn left ACL, coach Greg Nossaman confirmed Feb. 5.
Roderick was hurt Jan. 31 during a 73-66 victory over Olentangy. Earlier in the game, the 6-foot-5 wing player surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his prep career.
Roderick, who averages 24.4 points, underwent an MRI on Feb. 4.
"Ben has a torn ACL (and is) out for the season," Nossaman said. "Ben has great teammates that really care about each other. We will rally together."
Roderick set his scoring milestone on a 3-pointer with 6 minutes, 12 seconds left in the first half against Olentangy and went on to score 27 points. He now has 1,019 for his career.
With 3:26 remaining in the game, Roderick suffered the knee injury.
The Patriots are 10-8 overall and 4-4 in the OCC-Buckeye Division.
