For the first time, a Columbus International High School basketball player has scored 1,000 career points.
During the girls team’s 45-35 loss to Whetstone on Feb. 5, senior Oumoul Lhom had 15 points to reach the milestone.
She then scored 28 points during a 58-49 loss to Horizon Science on Feb. 6 and has 1,031 for her prep career.
“It means that all the hard work that I’ve done since freshman year has paid off,” Lhom said. “Scoring 1,000 points really means a lot to me. I always pushed myself to do better. Thanks to coach (LeAnthony) Jones. … Most importantly, I couldn’t do it without my teammates.”
Lhom is averaging 17 points and recently was named second-team all-City League-North Division.
She has played in 78 games over her career for the Lions.
