On the same night that his team earned a share of the CCL championship, Hartley High School senior boys basketball player Garrett Tipton surpassed the 1,000-point mark.

During a 65-55 victory over Linden-McKinley on Feb. 16, Tipton scored 25 points to give him 1,006 for his prep career.

The Hawks are 15-5 overall and earned a share of the league title when Watterson beat Ready 57-56 on Feb. 16. All three teams finished 6-2 in the CCL.

“It means a lot to me because I’m one in a few at Hartley (who have scored 1,000 points),” Tipton said. “Leaving that legacy will be with me forever.”
