Jamison Boykins heads into his sophomore season with the Reynoldsburg High School boys golf team after a busy and successful summer.

After winning a tournament to qualify, Boykins tied for 34th in the boys 14- and 15-year-old division of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship held July 22-26 at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The event featured 150 competitors.

Boykins advanced to the event June 11 by shooting a 73 to win the Ohio District South Tournament at Yankee Trace in Centerville.

He opened the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship with a 79, followed by a 74 and then a 76 for a three-day total of 229. Rachata Winwon of Bluffton, South Carolina, was medalist (217).

Last fall, Boykins finished fourth in the OCC-Ohio Division tournament in average (79.3) and shot a 79 in a Division I sectional at Turnberry to finish one stroke shy of a playoff for the final district berth.
